During today’s San Diego Comic Con Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D panel, it was confirmed that the popular show would be coming to an end next year with the seventh season.

The final 13 episodes are scheduled to air next summer. Season six is currently airing FRIDAYS at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and will air its finale on August 2nd with a special two-hour episode.

Produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” was co-created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, who also serve as executive producers along with Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb.
Disney has been making many changes to its Marvel television shows recently, with many existing shows coming to an end including The Gifted, Legion, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, The Punisher, Iron Fist and now Agents of Shield. This is all part of a push for new Marvel shows to appear on Disney’s streaming service. Hulu will soon be getting two new live action shows based on the Ghost Rider and Helstrom and an animated series called the Offenders, starring Howard the Duck. While Disney+ will be getting WandaVision, Falcon & The Winter Soldier and Loki.
It’s unclear if Agents of Shield will be available on Disney+ since Netflix still has access to previous seasons of the show, with Hulu including the latest episodes. It has already been confirmed that another ABC Marvel show, Agent Carter will be on Disney+. We might need to wait until the existing deal for the series has expired before it can come to Disney+.
